Germany eases restrictions on European travelers

Due to the introduction of the more infectious delta form of COVID-19, Germany said Tuesday that it is easing travel restrictions on the UnitedKingdom and four other European countries.

Britain, Portugal, Russia, India, and Nepal have been reduced from the highest danger category of "regions of particular concern" to "high-incidence areas," according to the Robert Koch Institute, Germany's public health ministry.

Travelers from certain nations can now escape obligatory quarantine if they can provide proof of receiving the COVID-19 vaccination, but those who have not got the vaccine must undergo a 10-day quarantine. If a person tests negative for COVID-19, the quarantine time might be reduced to five days.

Officials in Luxembourg stated Monday that Prime Minister Xavier Bettel, who contracted COVID-19, is in a severe but stable condition and will be hospitalized for the time being.

Following a two-day EU meeting in Brussels, Bettel was taken to the hospital on Sunday after testing positive for the virus.
