Following the latest update of the national list, Albufeira withdrew from the list and is now one of the least risky regions.

Monchique , who has not reported a case only a few weeks ago, joins Faro, Lagos, Lagoa, Portimão and Vila do Bispo in the list of high-risk areas. The last two counties are close to being pushed to high-risk areas.

Monchique is a city in southern Portugal, located in the Faro district (Algarve province). The population in 2011 was 6,045 and the area was 395.30 km2.

The municipality of Monchique is located in Serra de Monchique and is a tourist attraction along with the town of Monchique. Attractions include the historic town center, views from the two peaks of Foia and Picota, hiking, bird watching and cycling.

There are several small industries that produce tourist artifacts, sold in local shops, and produce medronho, a local beer made from distilled medronho berries.
