Portugal is the fourth largest wine producer in the EU

 


According to data released by Eurostat on November 19, Portugal is the fourth largest wine producer in the EU in 2019, with an output of 700 million liters, accounting for 5% of Italy's total. 

 


Last year, the European Union produced 15.8 billion liters of wine-including champagne, sparkling wine and port wine-Italy contributed the most (5.5 billion liters, or 35%), followed by Spain (4.3 billion liters, or 27%), France (34 100 million, accounting for 21%), Portugal (700 million liters, accounting for 5%), Germany (700 million, accounting for 4%) and Hungary (400 million, accounting for 25 of the EU’s total). 

 


The main partners of EU wine exports are the United Kingdom and the United States, accounting for 44% of the total.
