Italy: Conte warns of Christmas parties

Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte warned people not to gather to shop and celebrate Christmas on Friday, as the COVID surge is expected during Christmas.

He said spirituality is a private matter and should not be collectively flagged. . The prime minister said: "We will consider the epidemiological curve in December, but we cannot just associate Christmas with shopping, gifts and economic promotion."

"Christmas, regardless of your religious beliefs, is undoubtedly a time for private spiritual worship. "It is not a good thing to have private spiritual reflection with many other people."

Regional Affairs Minister Francesco Boccia said on Thursday that Christmas should only be celebrated among the "closest family members."
