Italy: 5,400 km of ‘excellent’ beaches

In the latest annual survey of the National Environmental Protection System (ISPRA) in 2020, more than 5,400 kilometers of Italian coastal bathing water received the highest honor of “Excellent”.

The survey was completed with the help of  ISPRA and regional agencies, accounting for 95% of classified beaches.

Sardinia and Puglia topped the list with 99.7% of “excellent” beaches. They are also the highest in the coastline distance of such beaches.
